The 2009 Driver Station

The driver station, previously known as the operator interface, is the device that collects the positions of HIDs (joysticks, switches, gamepads, etc.) and sends them to the robot controller. This year it will have four usb ports, eight digital inputs, eight digital outputs, four analog inputs, two ethernet ports (one for connection to radio, other for laptop), and a switch for choosing between Autonomous and Teleoperated modes.

[edit] Issues

  • Some have expressed concern over the boot time of the driver station. It takes ~15 seconds + 10 seconds for each USB device connected.
  • Another issue is there seems to be a two second delay that shows up occasionally. The problem has yet to have been isolated due to its rare occurrence. There have been some safety concerns regarding whether or not the disable switch would also be delayed. This has yet to have been tested.
